Generative AI for Teaching, Learning & Assessment

Overview

When ChatGPT hit the public scene in November 2022 many were worried about how it would impact industries from computer science to education to business. In its first month, over 100 million people signed up for OpenAI’s ChatGPT-3 (Henriksen, Woo, & Mishra, 2023). According to nerdynav.com, by April 2023 (the most recent stats available) there was 173 million active users and 60 million visits every day! Surely, generative AI (GenAI), built upon large language models, is not going anywhere so it’s best we learn how to leverage the strengths of artificial intelligence and combine them with human wisdom.

Read on to learn more about TLA@WSB hosted events and additional resources to help you find ways to incorporate GenAI in your teaching in a way that supports learning and prepares students for jobs that will inevitably be shaped by the presence of artificial intelligence.

GenAI’s Impact on Teaching

Note: We want to recognize that there are not yet “experts in AI” as it pertains to teaching and learning. As such, we encourage and welcome an honest conversation about how new AI technologies are impacting our classrooms, both today and in the future.
